I'm Julian Grove, an assistant professor in the Department of Linguistics. I plan to start having meetings of UF's Computational Approaches to Linguistic Meaning (CALM) lab, and I want to gauge people's availabilities this semester to determine a regular meeting time. The plan is to meet every two weeks.
For a bit of background, my general interests are in natural language semantics and pragmatics, and in using computational tools (broadly construed) to study them. I'm hoping that the CALM lab will serve as a hub for discussions of - and research on - semantics and pragmatics. The meetings themselves are meant to serve two purposes. First, they'll let us discuss papers (or longer pieces of work) that we care about. Second, students, post-docs, and faculty will be able to present their own ongoing research projects and obtain feedback. A schedule will be forthcoming. (We may also invite outside presenters in the future, but this is TBD right now.)
